How to Apply for a China Tourist Visa: A Step-by-Step Guide 2024

Planning a trip to China? Whether you’re looking to explore the Great Wall, or experience the bustling streets of Shanghai and Beijing, you’ll need a China Tourist Visa (L Visa). This guide will walk you through the entire application process, ensuring a smooth start to your adventure.

We Indians need a tourist visa to visit China. You can get it through a very easy process in 7-10 days and all the necessary information is given below.

Step 1: Gather Required Documents

Before you start the application process, make sure you have all the necessary documents. Here’s a checklist:

  1. Passport:
    • Must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry.
    • Should have at least two blank pages.
  2. Visa Application Form:
  3. Passport Photo:
    • Recent (taken within the last six months).
    • Color photo, 48mm x 33mm in size.
    • No hat, glasses, or accessories that obscure your face.
  4. Travel Itinerary:
    • Flight bookings (round-trip tickets, You can use Dummy Ticket).
    • Hotel reservations.
    • Cover Letter (Download) 
    • Details Itinerary (Download) 

Proof of Financial Documents:Bank statements or other evidence to show you can cover your stay in China.

a) In Case of Job: 6 Month Salary Slip and leave letter.

b) In Case of Business/Self Employed: GST Certificate, Incorporation Certificate or MSME Certificate.

b) In Case of Student: Sponsor Letter and Bank Statement of your Sponsor and ID Proofs. 

Note:  Last 6 Month Bank Statement (Balance 60K – 70K INR)

  1. Invitation Letter (if applicable):
    • If you’re visiting friends or family, you may need an invitation letter from them.
  2. Sponsor Letter (In Case of Student):
    • If you’re a student, you may need an Sponsor letter from Parents.

Step 2: Fill Out the Application Form

  • Visit the Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC) website or the Chinese embassy’s website in your country to access the form.
  • Fill out the form accurately, providing details about your personal information, travel itinerary, and purpose of visit.
  • Print the completed form and sign it.

Step 3: Submit Your Application

You need to submit your application in person at the Nearest VFS Global Services Office.

  • Pay the Visa Fee
  • Standard processing time is usually 4-5 business days. Some centers offer expedited processing for an additional fee.
  • You can track the status of your application online at VFS Global Website.

Step 4: Collect Your Visa

  • Once your visa is ready, you’ll need to return to the VFS Global Office to collect your passport with the visa sticker.
  • If you opted for postal return (if available), your passport will be mailed back to you.

Tips for a Smooth Application Process

  • Double-Check Your Documents: Ensure all documents are complete and accurate.
  • Early Application: Apply well in advance of your travel date to avoid any delays.
  • Keep Copies: Make copies of all your documents for your records.
  • Check Validity: Verify the validity and number of entries on your visa once you receive it.
